Playmodes is an award-winning studio from Barcelona, whose work is part of many collections in leading light art galleries worldwide. Signes is an audiovisual ode to the synchronization of technology with the rhythms of nature. The kinetic image here is not decoration, but a process – a kind of digital biology in a constant state of transformation.
A network of light panels that rotate and shift like a living organism. Every movement, tone, and flash of light is driven by a real-time algorithm, ensuring no moment is ever the same. Playmodes designed the hardware, software, and audio-visual content from scratch. The result is a flowing composition of light and sound, echoing natural rhythms from ocean waves to rustling leaves.
Here, Signes embodies how digital systems can take on a “living” quality. It points to a future where technology breathes at its own pace.
