What does music look like when a laser draws it? Audiovisual artist and composer David Vrbík invites you into a world where sound takes shape and light becomes a musical instrument. This edition of Signal Talks goes behind the scenes of his laser-based work, creative experiments, and live performances.

A laser string, music transformed into images, and robotic arms taking part in live performances. How do these ideas come about, and what does it take to bring them to life?

David Vrbík will trace his creative journey from composing for the dance theater company TOW and collaborating with Vladimír 518 on the SPAM project to developing his own audiovisual platform, VEKTROSKOP.

He’ll explore the principles of oscilloscope music, in which an audio signal directly generates an image, and introduce an instrument of his own design: the laser string.

He’ll also share his experiences incorporating robotic arms into live music and light performances and presenting Czech digital art at the World Expo.

Signal Talks brings you closer to the people working at the intersection of art and technology.

This time, discover a creative process that connects programming, theater, and light art—and makes sound something you can see.
